I'm from Philadelphia. North Philly specifically, what you would call the one of the hood part I guess. But upon meeting me you most likely wouldn't know it 'less I told you. I act totally different than one might expect, like the rest of the handful of diamonds in the rough. When I first came to college, I remember being asked, "why are you so sophisticated?" by someone my roommate knew. I have also been referred to as "shy," "bashful," and "soft-spoken". Not the typical characteristics of an 18 year-old male, out of NP. Now, I'm not here to write a story or of how I will someday become my best or how different I am from the rest (poetic..I already know the former). I'm just here to share what I like to call my Daily Philosophical Thoughts. I see life as a never-ending ladder, I will forever climb as long as I live; in fact, I feel everyone should. Life is an opportunity for greater. Greater meaning you can always do better than what you've previously done, and when you can't anymore, then that is when you have done your best and that's all that matters.
I felt the need to include that I am from Philadelphia to stress my point of how people living day-to-day, same routine should try doing other, experience-and-knowledge fulfilling things. I remember, everyday almost, when I would go to wherever I'm going throughout my day, on my travels all I would see are, mostly early-20's aged men standing out front of the Papi Stores. That's what we call corner convenience stores, because most are run by Hispanics. Not even just this potentially-negligible act is my main focus, just anything that is solely routine or seemingly un- educational/productive. Going to school, work, eating coming home going to sleep, waking-up and repeating, in the most basic sense is a routine one should try to manage for room for other activity. Too often I am seeing this occur, even with myself, especially since I am away at college. My day couldn't be anymore routine it seems. Two weeks might pass by and I haven't talked to my mother or father literally; times passes so quickly when you follow a routine. I encourage everyone, especially those who do seemingly un- productive/educational, negligible even, things like standing out in front of a store, to go out and try something DIFFERENT. Something that will be totally new to you, out of your comfort zone (this thought inspired by my brother). Even if it is as simple as listening to a different genre of music or reading a book, learning to trade, maybe. Wander around (cautiously) visit new stores, try studying something you usually wouldn't by choice. I was given a Political Science class this semester; me being a math and science kind of guy would never ever, EVER choose one of these classes. The class is on the American Legal System and I actually find it quite interesting, entailing about the judiciary system and its influences. In addition to this, try to learn a new language, it can prove very beneficial, on a personal level as well as business-wise. Meet new people. Go out. If you go out frequently, stay in and enjoy the simplicity of being alone, or at home (if with other(s)). Understand why and how things work the way they do. Set a goal for yourself and achieve it, whether it be losing weight, or beating a game.
Remember with timely processes like losing weight, it is often good that you don't lose weight to quickly, so as to not have to wear baggy clothes, or appear sickly(maybe) looking from one moment to the next. There is so much more to life, it's up to you to go out and make the most of it
